After the first concert of Estacion libertad, the idea grew tremendously of making a place of concert and art in the Plaza libertad. We have focused our attention in new ideas to make there, to propose, to a thematic concert each time, ESTACION LIBERTAD will serve as a forum of new tendencies for art and experimentation, starting with music. The task is to have a great synergetic component for the minds in a very close place, since galleries are not always the answer for promoting art to the general public, (as seen in the unfortunate LA PLANTA gallery experiment). Urban art is always a promising concept for giving a direct punch and leaving a bruise in peoples inner art consciousness

So join us and lets make art a religion, which is the only thing I really believe in.

THE IDENTITY OF A GLOBAL RADIO

The Church is crowded with art; alameda church used as a laboratory of art, telling us that art is GOD, Not a tool to reach GOD, but GOD itself. But it depends how we see Art, as a substantial echo of the union of heart and brain as a modern GOD should be. Or empty conceptual fashion nonsense that curiosity and an idea replace the sacrifice an artist have to make to become a real artist. An old fashioned catholic GOD what await us in the heavens of mediocrity. Art in a church, perfect metaphor of the objectivity or subjectivity on the subject.

GOD exist, therefore I work hard to reach him, If art where a religion, that would be the only thing that make sense. Now I don’t imagine a white cube full of conceptual bullshit as my GOD and my saints, that would be just like Catholicism, tricking banally everyone, Good working hard art is in a way like Hinduism, perfect in his 

characters, perfect in many ways. 

 

For radio global, the essence is the radio, whish they treat it well and they take care of it, but when you are inside a church or a museum, and they are transmitting inside and you find zombie assholes that believe in famousness just shitting in everybody that comes inside the buildings, then what’s bullshit, crap, they don’t even 

know how to make a good exhibition design, they are just at the mercy of fashion meets art nonsense people, art as a form of a capitalist thinking, art should be the same , everywhere, therefore, we are all artists, fuck it , what a waste of time, at least try to imitate a Michelangelo , a de Vinci, not spending amounts of pseudo cool time in being  another fashion stupid student that wants to be great  as well, because he’s imitating another fashion student, etc.

after not returning for a while to my country´s capital I decided to make a s

couting of some people I know here, music composers, architects, set designers, film directors, opera directors. all these great people that always tell me to come to mexico city, and then I wonder why I havn´t done that!!!,  well Guadalajara is a nice city, but obviously, OBVIOUSLY is not as near as the capital cultural offerings, and normally they dont appreciate people with talent like so many tapatios I know but the city just squas all together to make an average of normal  "trying to succeed but not doing enough"people.

Thats what I really hate about my town, and no wonder so many people jump to other cities in mexico. ANYWAY. guadalajara is still fun , nice, you can grow kids there , be a family man, without a problem, work from 9 to 5 , etc.

im just in pagoda again, remembering when jachen, chava and me came almost every morning to take breakfast .  and think about an opera set we use to do.

A combination of puppets and opera was presented during the tiny theatre festival in NYC . Combining opera and puppets we managed to make it great, and probably this will be the first of some different opera projects, i hope it goes well.

IN THE STREETS OF NEW YORK
How amazing is this city, where everything flows either you want it or not! where creativity is an every day necessity to succeed and not something you have to struggle to have it, Its a place where imagination give people their 15 minutes of fame, where ideas are taken really SERIOUS and where these ideas are the path of living for millions of people. It seems if you dont trust your ideas , you are fucked in manhattan, you are not going to make it.

On each corner theres somebody that put some of his soul on a wall , on the floor, on the side walk. People are diagnosed as pressureholics, the city lives in good conjunction with its inhabitants, Now I react on this and think!!! what is it in our country than we stgruggle to be creative ??, maybe we are by nature but we make it REALLY complicated!! One of the things i like about this city ( and of course i didnt like everything, you can see in many ways how spoiled many americans are) is that being direct is a quality, its just an arrow that goes directly to your heart, somethimes you say ouch!! now THATS a quality, If you are like that you skip many many problems on the way. They have created the city of either you are strong, direct and fast or you are dead, and self consciusness is high .

ARCHITECTS OF AIRAn ending to, in my opinions is one of the best work of art guadalajara have seen so far. Thank you architects of air for bringing this magnifiscent breathing installation, where all kinds of people met, no elitism, clear, strong, intelligent, sensitive and utopic reallity, It touched many peoples fellings and reminded them that we are flesh and bone AND aboce all, soul, whatever that is , THANKS shanti, james, jane, flo for having me there and you bet this installation have transformed my way of seeing things

  SOMETHING INTERESTING IS FINALLY HAPPENNG IN GUADALAJARA

Industry and biomecanics are often so close to each other . Industry abandoned in santa margarita bajacalifornia creates a dead atmosphere of something that was living there before. giant biomecanics that giger would consider to paint, When you get inside the once strong production city you realize the strongness of each object, each emblem that transformed living objects as sardines into a tin can.

Gabriel Orozco told me about the place. the centuria of time in these machines are so strong and yet so weak in their metal bodies.

Expressions of some artists are infestated here. But mostly mother nature has made the transformations in this rusty imaginaria.

It seems the world is not going to recover from the stupidity of man!!! It seems religion failed a long time ago, science is making us mutants, politics is a shit evrywhere i look. Architecture is subordinated to big money makers. zaha hadid, Nouvel, Herzog, all those little twinkle stars are just a magazine cover. Intelectuallity in a way helps isolated groups, but it hasn´t figure out how to get to the masses . Everybody is crying!!! I think at this moment I just believe in Theatre. It is the only way we can transform ourselves on how we want to be . It is a way where you put a test in yourself and take the best out of you for a while. I would consider living in a theatre for a month and then get out to the word and react on your character of choice. Maybe first we could become zquizofrenic. But in a way thats how we are having thousands of roles everyday in life.
I believe we could have wings, even the most boring people would get somewhere better if only you put on your theatre wings and become an urban ICARUS.

Interesting one week excersise on how to be a fireman, you know art and aesthetics takes you sometimes out of phisical risk, so in this case it was a chellenge letting my no so fit body to experience the adrenaline of fire aroundd you . for an instance I thought, fuck art, this is much better, you feel much alive, but is not in my nature to be that extreme, Man , In a way my dream as a kid to be a fireman, was accomplished, hopefully art could give us sometimes these type of adrenaline

Six months after the greatest scenography event in the year I found myself impressed about the quadrienalle effect,



wearing my hamlet is dead t-shirt I found myself alone on a desert beach in mexico when suddenly I started saying hamlet `s best known quote suddenly my life changed and dreamgirls came following the call.




It was kind of a male animal call. To me it was kind of logical because, after considering me not so great looking , hamlet is kind of the alter ego of theatre and set designers.








I wonder what would happen if I was wearing my Hamlet is NOT dead t-shirt.

Making floats in el grullo is great!!!!

After being one week in the town that has adopted me as a new menber of their community, we worked hard as hell making 6 floats, ans one stage design for the EL GRULLO parties. So we had to make 6 floats, three of them would be for two princesses and a queen, so with help of CHUY, MACLOVIO, and Giovanni, we started this adventure of working 24/7 . We took a concept of kitch town aesthetics and made a strange result. Beer was our water, red bull our medicine, and chacales our feast. The funny thing is that I was also elected jury for picking the queen of the el grullo feasts. So I had to deal with the speeches and modeling of the 7 candidates, not bad!!! anyway, after dealing whit little town problems as the cowbow factor and the macho problems in the town`s politics we managed to get things done. normally at the end one always want more and more things to make the float better, but finally we gave them awat just for 1 hour use. one week work just to destroy it an hour later. thats life. but everybody liked the floats, After that we made a tour to eat at the camichin restaurant to eat great GREAT chacales, If you come to el grullo call me , I`ll take you there !!

The most important thing for an artist is that the art the artist make really REALLY gets into people. That happened with various artists that made last weekend their work of art in a place where they only hear folk bands and eat enchiladas!!!! What a surprise for example that contemporary dancers where making their show ion front of the RANCHEROS and VIEJITAS . the audience where with an open mouth. and the show was full.!! With each show something similar happened. It seems the audience really like art the way it is presented!!!!.
I agree what Claes Oldemburg said about art.

I am for an art that is political-erotical-mystical, that does something other than sit on its ass in a museum.

Hula-hulas que cuelgan de las estatuas de los Niños Héroes, instalaciones sonoras que evocan al ruido de la ciudad y murales en la vía pública son algunas intervenciones que han transformado la urbe en efímera galería de arte. Pero algunas han generado molestia entre las autoridades y diversos sectores de la sociedad. Creadores consultados concuerdan en que las autoridades no están preparadas para enfrentar las diversas expresiones que tienen a la calle como escenario, como la intervención Carril de bici, que se llevó a cabo el lunes por la noche y dejó como resultado 27 ciclistas detenidos.El proyecto, que quería generar una reflexión sobre la falta de ciclovías en la ciudad, consistió en colocar botellas con pintura de agua en las bicicletas de los participantes, para marcar su trayectoria en el pavimento, pero elementos de la policía de Guadalajara consideraron que los manifestantes dañaban el patrimonio de la ciudad, por lo que detuvieron a 27 personas. De acuerdo con el artista Rodrigo Cortés, en los últimos diez años los creadores se han apropiado de las calles para establecer “un debate sobre los temas de la ciudad y la sociedad, pero las autoridades han visto a estas expresiones como actos vandálicos, que deben ser condenados. No están preparadas para entenderlas”, expresa Rodrigo. Para los graffiteros Alejandro Martínez, Peque, y Dyal, quienes han pintado un sinfín de bardas, “lo primero que hacen las autoridades es reprimir antes de investigar cuál es el motivo de la instalación. Incluso, tengas o no tengas permiso para rayar bardas, los policías comienzan a molestar. Hechos como la detención de los ciclistas denotan la falta de libertad de expresión y las represión del gobierno”, describe el Peque. El artista Julio Miyó, quien ha pintado murales en bardas públicas, explica que el evento del lunes, convocado por los organizadores del Foro de Arquitectura Complot, “es una actividad legítima, pero las autoridades son ciegas a estas manifestaciones y las interpretan como vandalismo y delincuencia”. Mientras tanto, ayer durante la inauguración del foro, el director de Coordinación y Planeación del Ayuntantamiento de Guadalajara, Víctor Martínez pidió una "disculpa institucional a las 40 personas que participaron en el recorrido en bicicleta y que pasaron seis horas muy desafortunadas". La obra, realizada en mayo de 2004, duró algunas horas, por el descontento de la ex secretaria de Cultura, Sofía González Luna, quien incluso despidió al director de Actividades Culturales, Francisco Lozano • La mano enyesada de la Minerva generó polémica. La obra hecha en abril del 2004, por el fallecido artista Luis Miguel Suro, consistió en poner un yeso en el antebrazo de la escultura. Permaneció algunas semanas y dividió opiniones entre los tapatíos, que calificaron el hecho como “una falta de respecto” o “una broma divertida” • En octubre de 2005, la avenida Federalismo, en su cruce con Independencia, se convirtió en un campo de batalla. El artista urbano Peque, pintó el graffiti La chica en el país de Burrolandia, que mostraba a una mujer desnuda. Más tarde fue censurada con pintura negra. Luego, el artista la pintó de nuevo con un mensaje para los censores.

En el marco del foro internacional de arquitectura se invitaron a una serie de artistas locales destacados a realizar instalaciones urbanas en diversos puntos de la ciudad. Sin Embargo, el día de ayer por la noche una de las propuestas, de la artista y arquitecta suiza radicada en Guadalajara Severine Schlaepfer fue víctima de la incomprensión metropolitana e intransigencia de las autoridades.La artista junto con otras 40 personas convocadas a colaborar con su obra “carril de bici”.

Iniciaron un recorrido del MAZ hacia el Parque Aguazul. La propuesta consistía en una intervención efímera que por medio de un mecanismo que goteaba pintura de agua sobre la llanta, expusiera el serpenteado camino que debe hacerse un ciclista para hacerse por entre las calles de Guadalajara.El evento, conocido por el ayuntamiento de Guadalajara y por la secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno del Estado. Se topó con la policía de tránsito quienes, ante lo poco cotidiano de la situación, detuvieron a los 40 artistas cuando estaban por terminar el recorrido, con el argumento de daño a la vía pública. Aún cuando, la lluvia de ayer, aumentando lo efímero de la propuesta, lavó la intervención a su paso. La solución del problema duró más que la obra misma.Autoridades municipales y estatales, entre ellos Santiago Baeza, de la secretaría de Cultura, se dieron cita la noche de ayer, con el fin de aclarar el malentendido. Finalmente en ausencia de motivos claros para justificar la detención –la lluvia había borrado todo rastro de la intervención- los 40 participantes fueron liberados del complot urbano.

Lo que se destaca es la buena voluntad de los ayuntamientos y las diferentes secretarías contra la incomprensión de los diferentes miembros de seguridad ante acciones que –saliéndose de las manifestaciones cotidianas- pretenden inocuamente poner en discusión el desarrollo de nuestra ciudad.Las instalaciones urbanas de la exposición COMP:PLOT continuarán hasta el día de mañana cuando se inaugure el foro Internacional de arquitectura. LA CASA TOMADA
La casa tomada is a house that 60 artists have made an intervention during the cervantino in Guanajuato. This one was number six,, it was really cool because the landscape potentialized this amorphus sculpture . Miguel mesa and I stayed 5 hours making this animal, slowly this helium beast becomed alive with help of the weather. The house is full of paintings and installations, some of them excellent, some of them not so good, but, artists from Guanajuato have more heart and are more interesting than the artists from guadalajara. It is more profound what they do, It is more emblematic and make more sense the artistic way.

After some time , children up the hill where screaming as hell to pull up the beast, to have this sensation of being attacked by a kind of guanajuato monster.

After two months of working in a book show, we finally did it, It finally came throu, museum design is not exactly scenography, transitions are made in different ways. specially if it is made for kids, kids are another scale, they tend to touch and destroy everything, so the museum exhibition, had to be stone like built , there where different aspects about it, we had to create a promenade in a way kids where able to come and go without a problem, I had to deal with ideas made reallity, because is not the same having an idea and then built for the stage, and having an idea and then being guilt for the kids. I learned that no matter how strong you build something , kids will always wreck the thing. They have so amazing power to kick pull, push, hit, spit, shake, etc. We had to make maggic to build and to create.In a way was a great place to learn in the TROMPO MAGICO, On the other hand It was difficult to but new ideas in a tin can brain that many people working on museum design have. It gave me some problems to transform an exhibition into something more magical, because the old school people here at the trompo , they just want to make nice little windows, And thats something I dont agree on, `.
The exhibition turned out to be a sucess .

MAKING A SET FOR A GUELAGUETZA SHOW, As you know The Guelaguetza Is the most important event of traditional mexican dance, we have to do something for the guelaguetza on friday, and with such little budget we decided to work with tin "embudos" I don`t know how you call that in english, but this are the ones you use to swallow all the tequila in a party or to hear more when you are deaf. so we bought alot of the them. Probably almost all of guadalajara tin "embudos" we have it right here in my house, we want to make a big 2 m diameter sun , lets hope we can build it great , Im also working in el trompo magico, an interactive museum, the thing is that over there everybody are in the confort zone, goverment ball scratchers that don`t do anything but to pick their nose. I dont like the spirit of it, probably ill get out of the museum as soon as I can.

Cual sorpresa me di al aterrizar en esa playa rica en gente y paisaje, ese pequeño lugar que concentra el alma de lo eterno y reflejo de nuestra felicidad. Un rincón nayarita llamado Lo de Marcos , una pequeña pero grandiosa playita popular .
Para mí fue la décima vez que gasto un fin de semana de mi tiempo invirtiéndolo ahí en esa playa hermosa donde los nativos te enamoran se su cordialidad y hospitalidad. Entre la comunidad esta doña chole la señora experta en cocina donde me adoptó como su hijo de pescado zarandeado. Siempre complaciente y como si fuera mi segunda madre nos chiqueó a mi novia y a mi con lo que le gusta mas hacer. cocinar y viborear. Normalmente nos habla de los mejores chismes de la reserva de la costa , que si el lagarto dominante ya tiene 4 lagartonas de la laguna, que si un pescador le vio las bubis a una excéntrica extranjera. en fin, normalmente nos deleita con el animalario del corazón. sin embargo esta vez. triste, cansada y resignada nos informó con una frase, casi ausente de vocales, que lo de marcos la playa nayarita por excelencia , se había vendido a una empresa japonesa. con lagrimas en los ojos nos comento que el gobierno mandó a unos hombres de negro a su restaurante, abrieron un pergamino tal cual mesopotámicos e informaron sobre la evacuación próxima del pueblo, para dar paso a un hotel que arrasaría con la zona natural, y la diversidad del ecosistema. Para pronto mi coraje ladró antes que mi razón, y le pregunte si no se podían organizar y hacer una manifestación en contra de la venta de playas que es patrimonio de México y toda la gente tiene derecho a ellas. Su respuesta fue tan triste como su esperanza. " los del gobierno nos van a dar una miseria y amenazados estamos si alguno de nosotros nos revelamos , por que aparte de no darnos nada, nos van a plomear como a los pobres de punta mita" . al decir eso me acorde de un amigo lanchero que murió balaceado por agentes estatales en su pueblo querido de punta mito por no querer marcharse con todo y lancha. Peor aun me comento que Punta Raza , otra joya playera, digna a disputarse el puesto de la playa con mayor diversidad nacional, no sólo había sido ya también privatizada, sino que cualquier persona que se acercara a 20 m de la reja que pusieron los agentes iba a ser enfuscado y muerto. Doña chole respondió: " lo único que me puede hacer feliz es que tengo hasta diciembre aun mi restaurantito, y como diciembre es temporada alta, puedo ahorrar un poquito para que cuando me saquen poder pagar un mes de renta en algún lugar y darles a mis hijos frijoles por dos meses, después pues ya me las arreglaré" y posteriormante añadió: "parece que el futuro esta privado a nosotros. estamos condenados a sobrevivir día a día sin ver ningún fruto a futuro, solo me queda ver a mis hijos crecer, si es que crecen sanos".

Ahora de vuelta a Guadalajara me revienta la coronilla cual país tan cínico y vendible puede ser el nuestro por unos cuantos caciques de la envidia que se pudren en dinero y que aun quieren mas para los gusanos que nacen de su ya putrefacto estado de descomposicion. Nos es posible que el país venda su patrimonio a unos cuantos japoneses que valen mas que toda una población que la playa de Lo de Marcos es su único entretenimiento que tienen.

So we took advantage of the weather and the flooding in my city so we made an instalation project. life savers on a tree where the tunnel always floods, where christopher columbus is and where all the cars always sails through the dark urban sea tunnel. as my friend will started making installations, well, I will do it too. Getting there, getting there, now I have a new job at least for three months which I have to design an interactive book exhibition, , cool thing regarding it will be for kids in the TROMPO MAGICO. really interesting. Set design is on stand by at the moment but not for long because they ave offered me new projects . 1 puppet project, one theatre project and an opera as well. The year is getting better after prague. I realized that everithing is possible except finding this plant on the photo that my friend miguel has in his house, cola de zorro. Interesting thing when opposite situations collide, my weekend took me to puerto vallarta, nice weather, beautiful beaches, Unfortunatelly I went for another reason, my last and onlygrandfather is about to pass away, He is about toleave our reallity, to go to a better one, at least in his reallity. I got in between the fire of lost hungry wolves dealing with inheritage reasons. So the father of my mom (RIP) is leaving us and my mom´s little brother and sisters behave like orloks from the lord of the rings. But then there was a beautiful cousin and my great sister that came as well to vallarta. Then I found sandy Dunkel for a moment, a special friend that made my day even that the day was almost over. The good thing about this trip is that I went to great new beaches, man, San pacho is a great little beach, maybe better then Lo de Marcos. well, I´m not sure because in lo de marcos I had great moments with my girlfriend and many other people, I havn´t said anything at all since I started to write this lines, but the thing is how greed transforms people in stupid individuals desperateed for a dime in their pocket, man they are more desperate than homeless people. So I aldo drank great beer with my almost dead grandfather on my side, but I really enjoy it, and he did as well for his quiet whispers where a weak sign of laughter. Tomorrow I will be heading to Guadalajara, Cos a new job is knocking on my door. Got to open it. Got to get healthy , Got to give kisses to my girlfriend when she comes back from los cabos, got to rescue my only two good members of my family that´s worth . The others may rot in hell.

AS PART OF THE SCENOFEST COLABORATORS i KIND OF MADE A PAUSE ON TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS ON EACH EVENT THAT I POSSIBLY CAN AND ENTER MYSELF IN A VERY EXQUISIT WORKSHOP. i REALLY WAS A LITTLE SCEPTICAL ABOUT SOME WORKSHOPS. i’VE HAD TALKED WITH PEOPLE ABOUT THE QUALITY OF IT, AND MOST OF THEM WERE REALLY DISSAPOINTED. BUT I TOOK MY CHANCES ANYWAY AND JOINED THE TEA PAVILLION. MY FIRST SURPRISE , WELL, ACTUALLY I WAS EXPECTING IT, WAS THE PERFORMANCE OF KUROTANI MIYAKO PUPPETEER, MASTER OF PRESICION, SO SIMPLE AND GREAT CHOW WITH A PUPPET. SIMPLE, PRECISE, THEY DONNT LEAVE CHANCE DECIDE FOR THEM ON THEIR PERFORMANCE. THEY ARE NOT AFRAID OF USING WHITE COLOR ON THE SET OR ON THEIR CLOTHES. AMAZING.

AFTER THAT, WHAT REALLY TOOK ME OVER THE SKIES WAS THAT SHE WAS GIVING THE WORKSHOP , BUT INVITING EACH ONE OF US TO A TEE CEREMONY. JAPANEESE STYLE OF COURSE. THAT MADE IT GREAT BECAUSE RITUALISM WAS IN THE TEE, YOU COULD FEEL SACRED INSIDE YOU. THAT GAVE US THE OPORTUNITY TO START wORKING IN A PUPPET. ELEVEN OF US WHERE MAKING A PART OF THE PUPPET, WHILE THE MASTERS MADE THE TECHNICALL STUFF, THE PLANS, CREATING THE SHAPE OF THE HEAD, IN A WHITE PAPER, IT LOOKED LIKE FRANKESTEIN LABORATORY. . DURING THE WORKSHOP WE EXPERIENCED DIFFERENT VIEWS ABOUT PUPPETRY, WE HAD TECHNICS ON HOW TO HANDLE A PUPPET AGAIN, JAPANEESE WAY, MR. MIAGUI STYLE (SEE KARATE KID).DURING THE WORKSHOP THERE WHERE A CONFRONTATION BETWEEN TWO PUPPET MASTERS, ONE PRAG STYLE, THE OTHER TOKIO STYLE, THERER WHERE DISCUSSING ABOUT THE COSTUME OF THE PUPPET, IT WAS AN ACTUAL FIGHT , AND THE WORKSHOP SPACE SUDDENLY BECAME A RING, SO I REALLY IMAGINE THE PUPPETMASTERS FIGHTING TO SEE WHO MADE THE BEST PUPPET. MAN, THAT WAS GREAT.

SO AT THE END WE MANAGED TO PERFORM A REALLY BAD PERFORMANCE WITH THE PUPET, BUT WE DIDN’T CARE MUCH ABOUT IT, HAVING SAKE AT THE END OF A WORKSHOP MAKES THINGS EASIER.

generating money on the last minute for benefit trip to to prag, I feel I have plan this trip for years, ironically I also feel I´m not prepared at all,but what the hell, as a scenographer it will be a dream come true, like islamists going to mecca, prag will be a great way of meeting otherscenographers, light designers and many characters. I´ll meet will, martin and nikos, hopefully they bring whiskey and ouzo, so i´ll bring my mexican tequila healing water too.

Gonna make two workshops, japanese puppets and video layers. Gonna make interviews all around for scenofest, mexican newspaper and haiti radio. Don´t ask me how I got that last one, But one of my tasks is to show the potentiallity of prag quadrienalle, and what it represents around the world to the mexican people, because unfortunatelly almost none knows about it, only the 4 set designers that always are chosen, the same old ones. anyway. I dont know if i´m gonna make TOWER OF BABEL exhibition because logistical problems with the local school. we where supposed to have tickets to fly there and three days later they cancelled our tickets because $$$$$$$problems, fortunately I have my own from another dealer, (i won this ticket because I could burped so hard) so I´ll see if i still can make it.

Entering again the new theatre panorama in Guadalajara, After a series of opera productions it is nice to see again the young never dying theatre . Specially when young actors and directors are involved. This time we made a piece from catalan jordi galceran named Dakota, The concept of the set was a kind of a base ball field, along with voyeur views from the crowd to the actors

The story is abot a desntist that wants to go to the USA. to live, but he hits his head andthinks he can predict the future. If you can go and see it in guadalajara it will be on wednesday and thursday of june . Anyway on the 11th of june i´m going to prag!!!! to the prag quadrienalle.

Wardrobe, sometimes people tell you need a change of looks, a FASHION EMERGENCY as they do in the bbc programs, In a way Its true: I´ve had this beard for at least 8 years, my messy hair for 4 years, clothes my dad used to wear, funky holy socks with air conditioned included, retro underwear, but real retro, ripped pants from the 80ths, and still using my top sailers. Have some clothes we use to use on theatre plays in high school.

I still use my walkman, when i´m feeling 80tiess and my discman to feel in fashion, I still hear technotronic, milli vanilli, and steve winwood.

MAN, THIS KIND OF SHOWS REALLY MAKES A CITY GROW. SPECIALLY MINE. THIS SHOW SAVED THE WEEK, AFTER SEEING THE SHITTY ZARZUELA "LA BERBENA DE LA PALOMA" WITH AN INCREDIBLY BAD ACOUSTIC AND AN AWFUL SET DESIGN, MAN , I DONT KNOW WHY udg KEEPS GIVING WORKS TO THIS BAD SET DESIGNER WHO THINKS VIDEO IS THE FUTURE OF SET DESIGN. IS JUST LIKE IF YOU GIVE VIAGRA TO AN 18 YEAR OLD BOY. HE SHOULD LEARN FIRST ABOUT AESTHETICS AND COMPOSITION. I DONT EVEN WANT TO PUT A PHOTO OF THE SET. BAD. RIDICULOUS.

While preparing my scenography class for the scenography students, while making the tower of babel project for prague and preparing to go there on june I dreamed last night about my favorite artists, some of those artists have made set designs, one of my favorite ones is H R GIGER the creator of alien.



I knew somehow he worked in something with Debbie Harry, the singer of blondie. I made my homework of looking after one of his videos, and I found one, OH GOD! I found one!!!!what a result!! what a spectacular piece of SHIT!!!! sometimes when you are a great artist and you enter a field that you don´t know exactly how it works you can easily make bad work, maybe debbie harry loved Giger´s art, but putting it just like that in a video with an extremely CHEESSY song that has nothing to do with gigers art makes it difficult to watch, An example of what a set designer should NOT do. yet the curiosity kills the cat, so I present to you this ridiculous Video, and totally a better song from Blondie .

Its sometimes difficult to see how people behave in different situations. Our mind is sometimes so powerful we amaze ourselves on the the things we achieve. BUT, when someone is ill or sick it´s sad how the brain demostrates it´s weak functionality against any kind of illness. I´ve been near people with different illness who have died or about to die. I understand how they are suffering , how their will to live slowly dissapears. I kind of understand that. What I don´t understand is the power of TV. you see, the people I´ve met who died where really great intellectual people. some weeks before they died everything started to rely on TV. That piece of concentrated nonsense light is the only thing they want to see, not even a movie!!. My question is, and i´m getting too far here maybe! why , if you are about to die, and you can´t do anything else , leave your senses and last enjoying moment to music? MUSIC!!?

If I was going to die of cancer or anything like that , one of my last requests would be to throw the TV out the window, hear it been crushed and destroy and start to hear the music I´ve never heared before. Whatever music that is, because my ears would really be more in connection with my brain, and music would penetrate more in my soul. So I leave the music waves to temporary heal whatever it´s left of me. Instead of relying of discusting talkshows and TV commertials that makes you sick anyway.

This is not a nice comment, but I have been recently near people with serious illness and It reminded me of when my mother passed away. I was really trying to make her hear her favorites songs, but TV was stronger.......fuck TV.

IN A DIVIDED OPINION

In a strange situation where my city defenetely don´t know how to start making cultural events I got tired somehow of the artform of living in Guadalajara. I defenetely don`t understand why theatre people behave so childish fighting with others just for ego reasons, They say everithing bad about the other theatre directors, about actors, they keep throwing shit to one another as if they where in a little plastic pool full of dirt and pee and avacuated food from behind. I don´t understand that about GDL. defenetely, Theatre is going down in my city, sometimes I wish to go back to architecture!! They are so many more egos there but at least they respect one another. I just with the theatre community where more open minded and work harder. If not, Theres no point being here.

SUNSET EYE


As we know the beach transforms our state of mind, miramar beach in a middle of a wedding , sunset boos, live rock & roll, mosquitos and some theatre scenes. Despite our descent sober image, we were unable to keep it up, The salty sea calling for our feet , the blink of the sunset eye. The light in the glass between the boos and the sun, The crocodile threat 200 meters away. Next day dunno how we went surfing. During my surfing With a 2.5 meter board that looked
like a peer, I talked with some sardines that told me that it was better for me to stay outside because I was embarrasing the fish community , cause my surfing was depressing.

As I flew back from huichol land , after drinking tejuino, eating peyote and watching hor 30 cows where sacrified .I suddenly realize how wrong I was in many things in my life. How life escapes me, and goes away in different directions. I havn`t bothered much on grabing life by the horns these days. or giving my life a meaning. Maybe I should give my life and work more a meaning, not just a greedy meaning about what I want and what I want to become.

But maybe giving my life more a sacred spiritual way!! Hold on, I´m not talking about becoming a sect member or anything about religion. But I understand that for many people putting in their work something spiritual makes it more rich and interesting. Luis Barragan, the mexican architect did it in his designs, Peter Zumthor had made it too along with Rafael Moneo, Louis kahn etc. Instead of giving a nonsense fashionwave product Its a better way to create. Anyway a Huichol said to me that he is making a play about the huichol land and ask me to participate, be part in it. I´m defenetely honoured with that.

So now I´m back making architecture and scenography!! Lets see what I can do about it. The only strange thing about my trip was watching a hulk man stopped in the middle of his transformation of becoming human, with a crazy dyed hair. I guess HULK had a bad holy week

CRAPPY PARADOXICALLY SET ON TOUR

I’ve seen so many different sets around the world, in and out the theatre space. I’ve seen good and bad examples about urban interventions, the theories of Marc Augé´s place and no-place has been read, used, re-used, dismantled, and reinvented by so many artists.. They have been making different works with distorted perceptions of the transitory promenade Le corbusier started to use in his dynamic houses, I’ve seen how time and travel are physically connected to humans, and how modern human depends on speed to travel and think, but the rules of time are paradoxically based on how people act and react on modern life and its consequences. I’ve seen a lot of different things in life, some more ephemeral, and other less ephemeral.
Let me put you now something inside your mind!! Let me put you 2 concepts:
we know that the concept of eternal is based more or less on the time human being have reached its greatness giving a legacy to new generations to come, And this legacy is still around us, example, the Mayan pyramids. These pieces of architecture have been around us for a long time, and it seem they will last forever!!!

On the other hand ephemeral as the little prince find out is the concept people use everywhere, every time. ”ephemeral is something created with a really near death" And this concept is also based on the speed and time we use to do ordinary things. Travel, for instance is something kind of boring right now because the concept of traveling usually means “to be there, somewhere, still, not moving at all, just admiring. Before this modern concept, voyage meant moving from one place to another not having a specific goal, not knowing where you will finish, where you will stop!, the travel is everything, the voyage is the absolute sensation, the sensation to move, be part of time and speed in your own terms, your own rules, becoming phenomenological about it.
The problem begins when the word TOUR and TOURISM came to town. And everything was screwed, especially when money is the center of attention. Eternity and Ephemeral, have a strange connection somehow, surreal in a way but great, BUT... when you mix the empty and sarcastic concept of making tour with the product of wise thinking for eternal greatness...the result then is destructive... to people, to our souls, to our architecture and set designs, to our culture. And when you blend it more whit the plastic empty balloon tire culture like some countries have, (specially the one on tope of my country) I don’t even want to describe the final result we make.

All this comments because I went to the beach last week and saw the most horrible set design ever, if you can call it that, cardboard Mayan pyramid made for toilets, anyway, I give you some photos on eternal ephemeral shit!!!

I once heard that a horse is just like a human, and they can become great friends, better than a dog, because they also have authority on you, they can bring you down when they want to. I was thinking of the histories greatest horses , Don quixote´s ROSINANTE, or zorros TORNADO, or the lone ranger´s SILVER, or the talking horse MR ED. There´s also theatre plays like EQUSS that they bring the phisical strenght and erotic masculinity in a boys twisted mind, There´s the horse of TROY, this magnific sculpture that destroyed a whole city. I just read that horses have a sixth sense that only humans can capture and viceversa..

The problem is that horses know about our sixth sense and they understand it, but us humans don´t even know we have it, And is the same sixth sense that makes a man different because it depends on this extra sense to qualify a person´s talent , specially artistically speaking.

The article also say that People always feel great when they are around horses, because this great animals reflect our own sixth sense back to us again, therefore horses are ina way a mirror of our talent , of our inner beauty , and our greatness that we usually ignore. Thats also why many many artists take the horse as a main theme in their work.

so think about it , and when you feel alone or sad, go find a horse , look them in the eye and become something special!!

holy week slowly is coming and i^m starting to plan where i want to purify my soul, I don´t think I´m going to church, nor the beach , but where the hi people are, san andres cohamiata jalisco. let me tell you about this place your lungs hurt there because the fresh and pure air, your ears hurt because the quietness there is, not even the wind sounds. But let me tell you , is the closest to heaven you can get, on thursday theres a guy who whips you 3 times to punish you for your sin, and theres a guy with a gorilla mask pretending to be the devil, and he is telling you stuff in huichol language and pushing you all around, on friday they gather 50 cows and they sacrifice them one by one, and the first blood the cow pours out they put it in a jar and they put a feather inside and take it out and then the witches throw blood to a jesus in the cross sculture, you can´t get more bizarre than that!!!, and then they dance the whole night with a 7 m diameter fire eating peyote and tejuino , an alcoholic beverage.

As I write this lines one of my best friends is getting married, the big yes is coming and really soon he will be somewhere in the caribean having the time and lust of his time. I am sloyly losing friends because of marriage, It is just something I really can´t get trough it!!! Is not that i´M gealous or anything like that , I just get MAD because all my married friends let their inner monster come out transforming into obese creatures with a monopolic and kind of strange way of life. Man , One of the misteries of life is how the hell people manage to grow a really big belly in so little time after they marry. Is it too much confort? I don´t think so, too much sex?? no way!!, too much love ??, Is it gods will to be fatty, remembering the holy pregnancy of mary??? Anyway . today I presented my shortfilm STILL MOVING in the independent film contest, It seems people had a great acceptance , this was the first time I show it to the public in general . Thou is an old one now It still gives a nice feeling to the public.

After that I disscussed the film with some friends with beer and cigarretes and I met great other directors as well. nice thing going on in my town, here,good vibes and great people.

It´s great to recreate yourself with a different perspective, I´ts awesome to use theatre as a tool to reconscile yourself with reality. It´s awesome to interact with other people the way you woudn´t do it when you are actually yourself, but then again you are yourself. Theatre is the most magical artform. Yesterday we went to Mexico city to perform in thE CENTRO DE CONVENCIONES BANAMEX, which it was great , except the people who hired us, HERBALIFE company, let me tell you about this strange people, we performed to 4,000 people, most of them where brainwashed by the head chief of HERBALIFE , before we performed this guy was acting like a human rabid dog searching for clients to get rich, most of the people are from the low class , but they where cheering this guy like it was a national protestant convention in Disney world. It was really like a religion sect, he cheered , everybody cheered. He behaved in a stupid way , everybody cheered again hoping to get rich like he say he is. It is like the TV scene from REQUIEM FOR A DREAM movie, when everybody cheered BE EXITED; BE BE EXITED!!! It was scary in a way.

As we stepped on the scenary , we made the performance and the good thing was that everybody cheered, so we felt like superstars!!!

Dakota by Jordi Galceran is the latestt project im making for a theatre company, the play is based on the american way of life, narrated by a spanish guy who thinks he have the power to look in his future by dreams he often has. But hes getting crazy by the day for the leck of intelligence in this culture.

You know the american way of life has been very critizised , but not in such a clever way as this play, its a really great play even for elephant americans.

One more day on the conquest in my city!!! yesterday evening we went to see an exhibition from Ivan puig at Sector Reforma Gallery, which it was kind of exiting, In a way it was nice to see this strange mashines that he made , Self working mashines that make music, It reminded me alot of swiss artist Jean Tanguely´s self destructing mashines, Well It is basically the same but more basic, althou the exhibition was nothing new, because many artists in the 50th and 60th experimented with all this mashines, It was a refreshment for young art lovers who didn´t knew this type of experiental art, from John Cage, Tinguely , Duchamp, Beuys, anomg others. watch a quick video of the installation.

It was Tinguely the mexican way which it was OK. Anyway people gathered there , socialized, drank , you know, nice night in an opening of an exhibition. You could also see all the boos searchers, The pose, etc. All that the artist needs to feel great.

Almost a month in Guadalajara after that great experience in Europe I´ve tried to mantain my theatre basis getting to know theatre people from my town, and after getting to know them, talking , interviewing them , I made my conclusion that theatre people in my town are really fucking complicated, man, thank god that I´ve done theatre elsewhere. Really, in Guadalajara you can find the most complicated theater people ever!!! maybe I´ll make a piece about so much walls they put on their vision, thier lack of imagination to try to do something that doesn´t have anything to do with theatre. From actors, directors, light designers, etc. how could that be!!?? . Ive decided to name Guadalajara as the swamp city!, You arrive here, bus slowly, slowly you get stuck here , and before you know it . you get drowned by the stupidity of the art scene, specially in theatre, where there are king of italian theatre mafias !! can you imagine that shit???

This sunday was kind of a zurich winter day!!, all clowdy and grey. Things didn´t happen on this day (except the super bowl , but who cares about the colts winning) . When you navigate sometimes in the INTERNET, your day pass really fast. I was reading abour Paul Virilios theory about the aestetics of disapearring, moments later I was in the VH1 webpage looking what happened in the SURREAL LIFE OLIMPICS. Anyway, moments later I discovered a blogpage thanks to zazilas links, There I found a video from DELFIN QUISHPE, trully , this video is one of the best i´ve seen so far, and when I was looking at it I suddenly recieved a message frome a friend, joseluis coronado, inviting me to eat tacos and gorditas. the thing is that we say hello, but he never invites me to eat gorditas or taquitos or this greasy food.

so I took a picture of this situation. anyway Its not fair to put the DELFIN QUISHPE video on my blog , so you can see it in sala verga`s blog. I would also like to say that sometimes I miss cattoons on sunday. Eating the american way, having for breakfast strawberry pop-tarts or apple jacks cereal. After swallowing those things of breakfast I usually felt like choking because the enormous amount of quantity sugar! Maybe only americans can tolerate so much quantity of sugar. Anyway , this sunday was sooo un-productive as the world itself .

By far searching new ideas for the scholarship and also for working in Mexico, I have to choose 2 roads, first road: choosing being my own boss, making my own projects, finding the best jobs possible, everyday , trying to make it great, organizing opera sessions, looking for sets to make, etc.

second road: looking for a job somewhere in an architecture office, having a salary , being secure with the money stuff, man, probably I won`t want this one, but lets see what this year bring us .

The thing is that now I have to think abou percentage of my lifes ambitions combined with another percentage of objectivity and another more for being REAL , what I can really achieve at this time of my life. Thats the main reason I´m willing to choose something great for this year.

Sayula, the dry lake of sayula is so fascinating to make things there , now that im making scouting for my project i really have to pick this one up.
Its almosta desert. It´s spectacular view when you cross it , and even from up the mountain, down descending the hills with a paragliding, its totally amazing, its another world.last time i went inside the desert 3 naked girls suddenly appeared there with no reason at all, I didn´t say a thing, they just lied down in the hot sand not moving, suddenly this guy shouted to get out of the movie camera frame, they where making a film.

attempting to have a nice conversation and get to know better the air hostess My time in the airplane was once again ruined by them. they are soooo bad, my theory of being spoiled people is confirmed, they are, 90 % of them with a big lack of sex and dreams of becoming great people. I know they look at the WHEEL OF FORTUNE show right after they get into their hotel. Anyway I was looking at the tv in the plane when suddenly they put a nice show about aerobics, so they had well formed ladies making aerobics , when suddenly a passenger with aa burca ( I assumed it was a woman) got up and stood still infromt of the tv , and in front of my eyes, so i coudnt see anything, I just saw a strange shadow, so the show ended and the woman finally sat down.
after an hour and a half trying to sleep at least with one eye closed , I saw again the aerobic show , I was so happy suddenly , by no strange force , the women with the burka was standing again blocking my vision, I was so angry , It just coudn´t be like that. It is strange because I don`t know exactly whats the

I don´t know about you people , but luck always is ironic to me, as I usually move from one place to another, a few days before I fly somewhere else luck comes knocking at my door, in the most disturbing way. I`m about to go back to the ol´mexican territory and yesterday some high class scenographers invited me to join them to a 3 day set design conferences which promeses great things The problem: I`m not gonna be here, I´m flying a few days earlier.
Today the main guy of the opernhaus zurich invited me to make a personal tour inside and outside the the big builduing which promimes a possible work future, the problem, I´m flying one day earlier. I don´t even want to go to the SHAUSPIELHAUS where I applied for assistant scenographer. I was supposed to ask , but I won´t because I already know the answer. I wish I could stay but the only problem is that my art scholarship begins the 31 of january and I have to be there you see? It´s always like that, chances come for me everytime i´m about to go, so I don´t have enough time to decide. Well , that´s life, anyway. That`s how it is, no one to blame on this situations.

As much expectation I had on the little spot of the Zürich center place where everything happened when Tristan Tzara and his collegues use to go there and put the seed to the biggest revolution of the arts. Whatever happened to that little spot? its not there anymore, , its just the spot, but in a modern style that is not as near as it used to be, I found this odd Picture by the entrance of the CAFE VOLTAIRE, this che guevara silhuette with lots of different people inside. A revolutionary made pop, made massive, so you can see all faces, Burroughs, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix lots of big high personalities that revolutionized one thing or another, Its just dissapointing that CAFE VOLTAIRE is currupted and destroyed. what a shame. Anyway, here`s a glimps of the sounds that Tristan Tzara developed in this strange great DADA way!!

It seems there will be an over population of this kinds of movies, With MY ARCHITECT, Artist documentaries took a step foward in looking subjectively the inner viswion of the subject. the person , his life, his achievements, his errors. This oustanding movie made a path for next documentary movies not that sucessful like SKETCHES OF FRANK GHERY or a kind of a bad movie ABSOLUTE WILSON , this last one, all thou a good effort , it makes a wilson book more worth the price than the movie ticket. then i saw on the web page the photos of the premiere of WILSONS movie. oh man, its so depressing, my expectations about wilson went from sky high to six feet under. anyway wilsons work is fascinating, But you could do a better film about yourself than this film . its so bad , so old fashioned. anyway in a way it looks that reality TV will soon come to an end and documentary will stand high , because true artists and their works deserve film inmortality, But if artists want to make a good documentary about themselves please let either their sons do it or hire a really better film maker , one that understand their work better than the artist themselves. Please use a good concept on how to make the documentary , Try to use the artists concepts and adapt it on the language of the film. that way it will have a better chance on achieving an unforgettable film. like MY ARCHITECT.

2 years ago the city of krakow recieved a bunch of extravagant set designers who had trouble warming their brain against the -20 degrees that poland gave us for a present. We had to start somewhere in order to begin our creative moments, so we gave our first statement , our first attempt, we prayed to god not to have our asses frozen!!

So the swiss alps after christmas are green, GREEN, I wonder , where did the snow go?? after being a week in swiss territory and trying to "GET NATURAL" as the national slogan says i'm having a bit of difficulties adapting, still adapting. It seems my life is in a strange railway when it seems the train is gonna stop in a city , but it stops just for a li^ttle while. This yeas has been like that:

And sometimnes I question myself about my work, abiut the future. Of course is tempting sitting in an office from 9 to 5 having your life assured. and shutting down creativity and dreams for they are the one thing keeping us with questions , making us think and act. But at the end, as the little nice piggies smile at me and tell me without speaking how they feel. well i just know at the end they are gonna die. Become bacon for the new generation. Thats when i think that when youre old and you loose your job , and don't know anything else to do but count and become angry about everithing, well thats when you are fucked.. I didnt want to make a life statement here, but I just want to wish everybody a great new year and really, really attend your life ambitions, attend what you like the most in life, or what you really want to do in life. we are animals, we are pigs, but is better to run in the wild as being locked in a farm. Taking a break in guadalajara, just a few hourse before i take the plane to ol`Europa again I saw a great opera thanks to my friend olga, LA VIDA BREVE from Manuel de Falls. It was an argentinian production, al thou they say UDG made it, the project was totally argentinian, I must say it was really great , nice set , it vas virtually all video. nevertheless it blended OK into the 1 hour opera. I really enjoyed. specially the moving of the clouds and the ending. Heres a snapshot of the opera. I dont understand why you can`t take pictures in any opera. anyway i took it.

after a long week job in veracruz without seeing our faces during daylight we finally enjoyed the last day of our stay. al thou we enjoyed just two hours of veracruz before going back to ol` chaotic Mexico city, we encountered LA NEGRA GRACIANA, world famous musician, with her music she compressed the essential of veracruz in three songs! and thanks to her our smile will last longer!!. great opera premiere!!, great moment the music. Their happiness will remain in my heart. the town of the happy people!!

COWNTDOWN TO THE OPERA, MAN, VERACRUZ IS GREAT PLACE TO BE, SHAME THAT IM IN THE THEATRE ALL DAY AND NOT ENJOYING THE SUN. TOMORROW IS THE OPENING DAY. HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE SUCESSFULL

Just thinking how would it feel like to be him, reading, looking, being surrounded by all strange aspects of every day life, having his experience, his knowledge, and yet having his weak strenght to handle so bizzare situations in the rest of his almost empty days left.

i guess im lucky........

Last day in Mexico city, last day in the center of mexican caos, I quite like it at the end, i really learned much from this CHILANGOS. After analysing my stay here i realizzed that unlike me the other two members of atelier efimero are having a really good time, i didn´t why?? maybe because I expected much about myself, I ask to much to myself when theres something related with set design. I really find it soo, good, I really like my life, I could die today knowing that my life has been greatful to me! On the other hand there are somethings I m starting to ask myself. My friends went to a big party, i didnt, i just didnt felt like it, all thou I really wanted to go days before, My mind is starting to play strange fellings to me, maybe i just miss sevi, maybe i just had it with this politics

I fell like Charlie Browns skull after the cow parade in guadalajara and the FIL. sunday afternoon in FIL worst than the crowded hours in the mexico city metro.

iM MAKING A PAUSE IN MY SET DESIGN PROCESS, MAKING A BIG PAUSE. AFTER GOING TO THE INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR IN MY TOWN AND GETTING A TASTE OF MY SWAMP BORING TOWN I DECIDED TO TAKE IT EASY, LEAVING MY TWO RIGHT ARMED FRIENDS JACHEN AND CHAVA WITH THEIR NEW FRIENDS. I JUST FELT BEING ALONE FOR A WHILE. BREATHING MORE EASILY AND SLOWER IN GUADALAJARA´S NOT SO GOOD , BUT BETTER AIR.
NOW I´M A LITTLE DISSAPOINTED WITH MY TOWN BECAUSE THIS STUPID EPIDEMIC COW PARADE IS HERE AND AS USUAL THEY TRY TO PAINT THIS STUPID COWS LIKE SOMETHING RELATED TO MEXICO OR SOMETHING RELATED WITH THE WORD VACA.... THATS COW IN SPANISH. I JUST CAN´T STAND THIS FIBER GLASS MAMALS... IT MAKES THE CITY LOOK RIDICULOUS, IT MAKES ARTISTS LOOK RIDICULOS AND IT MAKES ME FEEL RIDICULOUS. THEY ARE JUST PLAIN STUPID, BAD MADE AND POINTLESS. AND THE WORST OF ALL THE ARTISTS COMPLAIN BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS DAMAGE THEIR COWS, AS IF THEY WERE A GREAT WORK OF ART, COMEBODY PUTTED A CHEWING GUM ON A HORN AND THE ASSHOLES COMPLAIN ABOUT IT . AS IF THEY PUTTED A CHEWING GUM IN THEIR ASS. !!
OH MAN, IM GLAD I WONT SEE THIS COWS THAT OFTEN.

NACO GLADIATORS

During our working nights we were incapables of behaving ourselves because we used UHU glue, ill tell you, if you smell that 5 consecutive hours in a row your mind start seeing edelweiis on the walls. you confuse a pen with a lollipop, you start singing like you were an agonising paul anka and you think each tool is a weapon and start behaving like a 90 year old gladiator at 5 am in the morning.

antena man serenata

No explanation what so ever, so we tried to work toughly on AUTOCAD, while this man behind with a strange antena on his head came and evoked a bob dylan song, it lasted like 30 minutes, but we really had strange vibes during our concentration, maybe the antena, maybe his singing, but after this serenata (not on tape) we put a chop suey taco in his mouth and he miracously shutted up.

After working together for 15 days with swiss jachen our art concept has transformed towards dada thinking. maybe the influence of zurich life, maybe the pollution of mexico city´s smog, maybe toomany cheese has made us nonsense dada thinking all thou nonsense is great in art. naïvity is essential in ways of understanding the ordinary. The everyday life. Bellas artes builduing is great in its form, monumental but weird in mexico´s reallity. dictatorship builduing, a wedding cake, like in italy , like fascism goverments, but is a really well made example of the most popular artists (siqueiros, orozco, and rivera) licking dictatorship balls. Being phenomenological and naïve its a great feeling!

you know this great moments , scenes in your life, that happen sometimes, today while waiking up i saw an interview from michael gondry and gael garcia talking about their new movie, la ciencia del sueño, i just thought what would it be like to have sex while this 2 guys are talking some nonsense but funny dream theory they have. I must admit, the theory gondry has is better than freuds, dream theory, but somehow they all related the dreams with sex, and told 5 times in the interwiew how they piied in their beds when they had wet dreams. courious, just wanted to share it

as time passes by and we are getting into the heart and soul of bizarre mexico city we took a break and headed to play tisch fussball or FUTBOLITO. the thing is that the futbolito tables are 1 century old, andeverything is so heavy, not so fast as the european table football, but here it has more personality! because each wooden player is painted individually.
here`s a glimps of the contest , the little kids are soo good, I don´t understand why Jachen always make weird faces when he´s on tape. Can you explain that to me silvia?

masking the face, the feeling of an upcoming fatal fate!!! that never comes, the instinct of artist willie doherty at mexico df great church gallery is an ensemble of his great video art along with the empty ness of this ex church , makes the feeling soo scary and emotonal in many ways, hope you can see it.

now we are finally about to make the set, after many tries , we are beggining to do it. our time in mexico city has been so far touristic, hopfully that will change. We{ve made the final sketch of the opera and a proposal to the lights , we are so anxious to start and go to veracruz and enjoy a coffee in cafe la parroquia, and eat well, and meet nice people. you see , mexico city is bizarre, and that what i like, the most bizzare place ever, ( maybe also tijuana) but this city is not mexico at all- i think veracruz has more to offer, great state along with michoacan are my favorites. i hope you people out there that are reading this lines can come one time to this country.

never ending night at mexico city we found a new bar called HAYASTAN, great bar where every night different bands come to play. but yesterday there was the worst band ever called MASACRE SENTIMENTAL, sooooo bad, its bad, but the rest of the bar is a contemporary werehouse with a glimps of kitsh, the people there are good. nice night,

The skeleton of a whale floating on an intelectual space, Jose Vasconcelos Library. This kind of things really amaze my senses. displacement of things are normally refreshing, and exiting. really enjoy the library, al thou it has its details, like once you go and try to shit in the bathroom, you suddenly realize that you have an open window to the mexico city streets, its nice to see the ugly landscape outside, the problem is when people outside start gigling at your situation when you are about to whipe your behind

The ECO Museum design by Mathiaz Goeritz was really alucinating, Carlos, a friend took control of the turntables, great feeling, great atmosphere , awesome spaces.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY , BETWEEN DRUNKEN PEOPLE, SMOG, DIRT, CIGARETTE SMOKE AND TONS OF NOISE, WE FOUND A SPOT TO STAY ALIVE, ACTUALLY TO DRINK A BEER, NO, ACTUALLY TO HAVE A GREAT TIME, NICE LITTLE BAR CALLED EL NIVEL, SO JACHEN, CHAVA AND ME FOUND INSPIRATION THERE, TALKED ABOUT OUR GIRLFRIENDS ALOT AND GAVE SPACE TO NET ARTISTIC THINKING. SO WE ARE ABOUT TO BEGIN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SET, AND HOPEFULLY WE CAN GO REALLY SOON TO VERACRUZ, GREAT PLACE, BEEN THERE BEFORE, HAD A GREAT TIME THERE WITH A REALLY GOOD AMERICAN FRIEND.
SO IN TIMES LIKE THIS I THINK ABOUT "WHAT IF I MOVE HERE?? EVERYTHING IS HERE, " THE WAY OF LIFE IS NOT THAT GOOD, BUT I COULD USE SOME GOOD WORK HERE.

ladytron en guanatos


guanatos comix les entrega un fragmento del concierto de las moder mamis de ladytron, es un alivio que los conciertos se sigan haciendo en guadalajara, es un alago que la gente este yendo a los conciertos y invirtiendo dinero y esfuerzo para que poco a poco se caliente el comal musical de la ciudad.
2 cosas, porfavor arreglen la acustica del teatro cabaret: malisima, como todo teatro en guanatos, lamina de techo inclinado hacia el escenario, el rebote de ping pong sonoro no se hizo esperar, udg, porfavor inviertan en la acustica y no tanto en sus bocinas ultra dirigibles que si no tienes una buena acustica en el techo pues tiran el dinero.

La segunda es que no lleven a ladytron a comer despues de un concierto tortas en el santuario. por favor!!! quien fue el de la idea de que con una torta de pata y una chaparrita de naranja los musicos iban a dormir como angelitos. Pobres, solo supimos que estuvieron guacareando en el baño del local de las tortas ( no decimos el nombre) y que toda su austeridad y estetiscismo obscuro se vio invadido por jugos gastricos tirados pa fuera a cañonazos. Espero que esten mejor y no se vean todavia mas palidos los ingleses de ladytron

De acuerdo con aristofanes, la persona que no se siente de ningun lugar, es generalmente una persona que en el recae una la importancia y el deber de cambiar su sociedad, pero cual sociedad? en un mundo de ir y venir en aviones, trenes y camiones, realmente no se bien ya a donde fregados pertenezco, pero al final eso es lo mas importante para mi, sentirme ajento o suelto a una cultura, aunque en el fondo la tengo, cada vez es mas translucida, se pierde con cada nueva experiencia, con cada nuevo idioma que aprendo y no entiendo, con cada comida rara que me meto al organismo, con cada bebida que me apasigua la nostalgia.
teniendo en cuenta que pronto comenzare la opera en veracruz, me dedico mientras a pasear por las calles de Coyoacan en la ciudad de Mexico, nostalgeando alguo donde hace 3 meses era mi casa, produciendo una escenografia. he aqui la imagen mas representativa a mi gusto de coyoacan. no son los coyotes, no son los hippitecas, ni los cultitos. no son los edificios, es simplemente este arbol con gomas de mascar. saludos

And there I was, taking the steel horse, taking the steel bird, taking my way to my nemesis city again!!the place thats not that bad to me , but it´s the city that eats, and shits people, Mexico city. so I started back my voyage on the train, i have a nice snapshot there , the dawn of the swiss railway which i quite find it very cool, very motivating all this vains through swiss lanscape, cutting through the nice postcard city that zurich is.The trip to nemesis city was as expected, thinking why the hell i chose AMERICAN AIRLINES to fly, because of two things Isuppose, the first reason is that it was soo cheap, but I really have to consider having an upper flying status, im getting old and its not so confortable anymore to seat in a place where they treat you like shit and the food is a bag of crackers with mayonnaise.the second reason , al thou I knew this reason wasn´t worth it i reallity, I took it anyway for research reasons. I chose it because I really wanted to see how the flying hostess behaves , because of my comic that im doing, you see, its really inspiring ( if you tak it like me) the way they behave and mistreat people, the way their faces are, the way they wear mak up, the way they fix their hair, man, thats so bad, anyway each time I fly somewhere iIALWAYS have a problem with these creatures. As i asked for a vegetarian meal, so i did the day i purchased my flight, they just gave me bread and butter, THAT WAS IT, THEN , FROM ALL THE 100 rows they have in the airplane a hostess chose mine to kneal on the aisle, and talk for an hour to a passenger, the the thing was that i was sitting and her ass was about 2 cm to my hand, tempation? , you bet, i honestly slap her ass, and of course i suffer the consecuenses the whole crew turn against me in a funny way, they didnt offer me nothing at all, no bread and butter, no, crackers, still 5 hours of flying, my god.i don´t really want to tell you much about it, but this hostess with a darth vader helmet haircut made my day unexpectedly well, nice ass by the way. The only thing is that my fellow plane neighbors say the incident, but as always, nobody say anything at planes, not even when theres really bad hostess, not even when theres snakes!!!!!SO i went to the bathroom because everything else was so boring except the slap, and i took this picture in the bathroom, because there was nothing else to do

And then , I went again, from my beloved, because tommorrow i´m going to my blood town, my nemesis town , my ashtray town, mexico city, al thou i hate it, there´s always something going on there, i only think now that this opera that im about to do in veracruz trully give my spirit something good in my life, i really want to be part of the art world, and it seems i am slowly doing it, no guadalajara bull shit, no little gallery guy, no getting drunk on each opening show, this is about working hard, work until you sweat blood. anyway i dunno if i make sense at all , at least for me i do, i just went last night to eat fondue chinoise, great food in a great town, möllis, quite cute town, you see a postcard lanscape everywhere you see around. so we went and came today with the train , I was hoping to put a nice landscape with mountains and edelweiss all around me , but i prefer this kind of schnell snapshot of a man that I don´t know looking at a kid that i don`tknow, its kind of dull photo , but it has more story than a nice lanscape, you know, swiss landscape is great , so great , but I feel it kind of empty. It doesn´t fill me with extassy or great pleasure, To me it´s just nice, really nice, but i would like it more if you could find a big piece of crap on the side, or some kind of garbage somewhere that makes the landscape not so beautiful, but, more real, as I said before, a little caos does´t hurt anyone. so thats why i think like that.
anyway ill try to do a photo of what i mean, next time i write will be in Mexico, in zurich´s nemesis, totally a different thing.

Just putting this on the record, SEMELE by händel is as powerful as most operas by mozart , except with a more british touch, this was made in the new york city opera the 12 of september, long time ago but worth looking at.

this day i really shutted my work down, i just dedicated myself to join together my stuff on the web, i didn´t miss much of it outside because everithing is gray and dosnt work much for me like that, this moment i am assigned to do an opera in veracruz on december so thats so near, the thing is i really have to start working on it, it will perhaps work a set as fast as i can, lets see how it goes. any way i shut down today.

I went to Den Haag for a quick visit to my sisters, during my short stay i went to a strange conference regarding Guillermo Arriaga`s (amores perros screenwriter) new book "the night of the buffalo" He was also there , so he started talking and we discover a really strange man, he has been suffering violence since he was a kid, he questioned tarantinos movies , he talked about the eminent destruction of ourselves as well as vegetarians being the most destructive people there are.
interesting guy, kind of a diva in a way , but thats how usually is .

In the end i usually pass every evening through the train station , whenever i go into the city.
Something is so fine about it walking and looking up this big angel in Zurich HB , this colorfull figure that gives a bit of excentricity, confidence and cheerfulness to the people waiting for the train, waiting for people, waiting for some hope , or just passing by, The artist: NIkki the saint phalle, The swiss have something they do really good, they are great in little details, they make things really well and careful.

I really got to know the work of a great architect carlo Molina I have never seen his work, it seems his eclectic tork is as good as it gets, his work as a designer go to all different fields you can imagine. here in the GAM they have his exhibition , so i went to see what i could find, it seems its one of turin`s great treasures.
